ummi to mommy

Does any of you guys know that song 'Ummi' from the 90's ? Ummi is Arabic for mother. Very famous, very very famous song. It was on TV all the time for God knows how long!

When my brother and I were kids, we called our mom 'mommy'. That's the word she has been addressing herself to us since day 1 we opened our eyes to this world. But then .... later in life, she listened to this song Ummi and took a STRONG liking at it. How strong? She made us called her Ummi instead of Mommy. That's how strong! You have no idea how hard it was to train your tongue to say a different name after so many years of habit, and not to mention, super weird! But my mom was very persistent and corrected us every time we called her Mommy and finally, the name 'Ummi' stuck.

Fast forward to 15 years later ....

We were all in the living room watching TV, my mom all of a sudden ....

" I missed being called Mommy. "

Hmm, why does this sound very familiar ..

"What do you say if ..."

Why do I think I know where is this going

"  ... if you all call me Mommy again? "
