mom's romantic surprise

My mom is turning 49th this year and I am throwing her a surprise party. Well actually, I throw everyone in my family a surprise birthday party every year, it is no surprise. I wanted to blog about the surprise birthday party I did for my youngest sister, surprise birthday party for my sister Ayin, for my cousin sister Della, welcome home surprise for my sister Uyul who came back from 3 months PLKN training but I haven't had time alone with my laptop so I've been postponing. When I finally have the time, they’re old news I can’t be bothered. Sigh.

I know I celebrate her birthday every year but I want to make it a little special for her this year since this is the last year she’d be in her forties. Hehehe embrace it, mom you’ll be fifty next year.

My sisters and I have planned a dinner out on her birthday which we all know she's expecting. My mom is so not a stay-at-home-24/7 mother, she wants to go out everyday if possible. She has gone to Indonesia again to visit friends as I'm typing this. It's a no wonder my sisters are always out and about, they inherit this from my mom.

I have been thinking what to do for my mom's birthday. Should I go big and hire a caterer or should I have it small and closed. I discussed with my sisters and we all want something intimate for my mom’s birthday, just us family.

One more reason I have to throw her a surprise party is because, she told my sister to tell me that she wants a surprise party.

One day before my mom’s birthday, I make sure I have everything I need to set up the living room.
Right after work, I shoot straight to Nilai to pick my sister’s up from her university. Told my sister to be ready earlier that I’ll reach her place by 7pm. But of course, she made me wait in the car for half an hour. And she got babbled up the whole way home about punctuality, time management, responsibility, integrity, full package of motivational talk, guys. Now this skill, I got it from my mom.

Around 10pm, my mom went to her room ready for bed. All of us in the living room just sit straight pretending to watch TV while really, nobody was paying attention to those Asia's Next Top models on TV anymore.  While she's walking upstairs, all of us was very quiet listening or even counting her footstep up the stairs, walking into her room, and ..... she closed her bedroom door! My sisters and I looked at each other, but still not moving from the couch. After few seconds, we heard my mom watching movie in her room.

"Okay, now! Go! Go! Move!"

One ran to my room to get the candles, one ran to get the cake, one ran to get the lighter from the kitchen, one set up the Happy Birthday sign. Fuhh, suddenly we're all athlete runners.

Very romantic, right? Anyone wants to get on one knee on me now? A room this romantic, I’ll say yes in a heartbeat.

We got everything set up, now it’s time to get my mom to come down. How?

I went upstairs to my mom and said “Mi, Along feels a bit fever-ish, I’ll take him to the clinic.”

I bet my sister I’ll give away all my shoes if my mom doesn't want to come to the clinic with me. If I'd swear on my shoes like that, you know I am dead right. Sorry to disappoint, but there’s NO WAY I’m giving away my shoes. Bahahahaha.

I got my mom very shocked and worried when I said Along is having fever (quite an actress am I, hehe), she ran downstairs after me, and we all screamed "Happy Birthdayyyyy!". Might have waken up the few months old baby next door. Sorry!
I was so happy to see how happy she was.

“Thank you so much, this is so lovely. Now where’s my present?”

“Of course I've present for you. And it’s priceless. Here’s a hug. Love you mom!”
Hehehe.

These goons, as usual they think everyday is their day. At the end of the night, my phone filled with their pictures.
Get your face out of my camera. Please, thanks.

................

The next day, on my mom's birth day, we went for a nice dinner out at some place nice and quiet.
The restaurant has a fish pond, it's so nice. We only have 2 cans of the freeze-fried fish food so we end up fighting over it and  at last, had to buy one for each other from the counter. So greedy!
Happy birthday, Umi! May Allah always bless you with happiness, good health and long life! We love you so so so sooo soooo soooooo (this could go on forever) ..... muchhhh!
