banana leaves

A friend was asking if I know how to eat with my hands. What the hell?! Of course I know! I'm Malaysian.

And then, they start questioning my Malaysian-ness (I'm creating my own word here) with Indian banana leaves food that I've never tried. How dare she.

Malaysia is famous with multiracial society and our variety of traditional food. You're not truly Malaysian until you've tried all Malay, Chinese and Indian food. Well, at least that's my friend's definition. I doubt that.

Anyway, I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food. I only eat what's familiar to me. I don't eat anything with vegetables. If the food looks strange to me, I wont even touch it let alone eat it. Knowing that, my friend here is being such a jerk pointing out me not being true Malaysian.

Challenge accepted!

What a coincidence, that weekend Nash was saying it's been awhile since the last time he went to Raju's for lunch. I thought in my head ... Raju's .... Indian restaurant .... banana leaves .... perfect !! Raju's is quite a recognized restaurant in PJ which famous with their food served in banana leaves.

" I thought you don't like the food there? " Nash asked ... suspiciously.

" Are you kidding? I like Raju's. "

He gave me a face.

" I like the chicken there okay! " not exactly the reason why people go to Raju's but ... close enough!

I asked Nash to take a picture of me with the food.

This is why you wanna eat here. "

Hahahahaha. Fine, I filled him in. Told him about what me, Gogila and Kisha were talking about.

" So, I'm gonna prove them that I've eaten this "

" I think you should show them the after picture instead, because ... you know you will only eat the rice and the chicken. Everything else, will be left un-eaten "

Sheesh, this man! Which side are you on?

" Baby do you need fork and spoon? " Nash asked.

" Shhh, everyone's using their hands. I have to blend in. "

Nash laughed at my face. What's so funny?

Hahh! In your face, babe! Challenge accomplished! What else you got?

Later in the mall, we took some lotion from a tester bottle because our hands still smell curry and dhal.  Even after a lot of hand-wash.
