" I hate my job! I am a degree holder and I wasn't supposed to be doing this! "
Have you ever come across these kind of people? If you haven't, it's probably you. Oops! I have been working for almost 3 years now and I've seen so many behavior of people coming in and out. Desperate to leave the job they hate and take the first job that comes in front of them. Some resigned without even securing a new job yet. That's not right!
One that I really can't stand are those who always gets it easy AND wants it easy. Gets it easy is one thing, WANTS it easy is another. How can it not be easy? -- Parents send us to university. Parents pay for our fees. Parents give us pocket money. Some have the parents to get them a job. And they are complaining ?!
Ya ya, you have a degree from some reputable International University. What makes you think you can't do filing?
I understand people want something they think they deserve to have. I do too. You want a fulfilling, rewarding and enjoyable job. You want to be recognized and appreciated for the work you do. It's a perfectly natural needs. But you can't expect it to come crawling for you. You have to earn it!
Not matter how much you love your job, you'll always find one thing you don't like about it. Vice verse, no matter how much you hate the job, there has to be something good about it to you. You can't get what you want all the time. You're no longer a little kid crying for your parents to buy you the remote helicopter or the barbie doll house you saw on TV. No, no. The world doesn't work like that. Work your way around the job you hate. Learn to like it anyways!
Here, let me put some sense to your head before you decided to leave the job already.
1. You don't wanna be broke
I don't know if you come from a wealthy family, but come on, you are 22 years old. Do you wanna be asking your parents for money to buy your undergarments? No.
2. Manage your problem.
Find out what is it about the job that really stress you out, and manage it. Don't run from it. Your next job will have its own set of problems. If you can't handle it here, you can't handle it there.
3. Reduce the complaint
I understand that sometimes you just wanna be heard, therefore you complaint. I'm not saying that you can't complaint at all. I'm saying that you should reduce. Saying it good will make it good. Complaining about it not just making your life miserable but people around you too. Do you think they won't be worried looking at you being not happy at your job? They are worried. Well unless if they don't like you.
4. Stay focus!
No matter how much you hate the job, focus on your goal. You wanna grow your skills and experience. So, make the best out of it. Prepare yourself to secure the fulfilling job you have always wanted. The hard work will pay off. If you don't believe me, believe in yourself.
5. Plan your time
Create a to-do list on daily basis. Keep yourself busy so you know you're being productive. Don't just sit around thinking how sucky your job is. That doesn't magically make your job interesting, okay!
6. Switch off your mind once you leave work
Look at your crossed off to-do list and be proud of yourself. Go home, take a good bath and have a good night sleep. Think of your work as a game. You might as well enjoy it.
Too much? Well, let's see. You want a fulfilling, rewarding and enjoyable job. You wanna get recognition and promotion for your efforts. You wanna be appreciated for the work you do. But at the same time you want a balanced life with time for yourself and interesting social life. You wanna have clarity about your career, job scopes and you wanna live a healthy, fit and a stress-free life. Hmmm, you don't think this is too much to ask for ?
So keep up! People change jobs because they can't change themselves.
